[englisch, lɔn 'miːtə(r)], Verdoppelung der Grundschläge, der Beats (auch Double Beat); um als Improvisationsthema (Multibeat) geeignet zu sein, wurde bei vielen Melodien die Anzahl der Beats erweitert, was in der Notierung bei geraden Taktarten eine Verdoppelung der Zeitdauer der Notenwerte und oft auch der Taktzahl nach sich zog. Verbunden damit kann auch eine Verdoppelung des Tempos (Double Time) erfolgen.
